Can't get my wireless going
I have to apologize for delay in getting this thread re-started. Unfortunately, we had two (seperate) deaths to deal with in our family and its been a helluva few months. Things are somewhat better, and as a bit of a diversion I'd like to try and get my thinkpad's wifi operational again.
RealBlackStuff had asked what card I put in and perhaps the best start would be to show a couple of pictures:

Maybe this will give someone a clue. Tell me if I need to pull the card and look on the reverse side.
It sounds like I have to somehow flash the wifi card so that it reports to the thinkpad on boot that it is ok? I went to the link and although I've flashed ROMs before, I'm a little confused in that I'd like to know where to get the new flash, and also, do I need some kind of special flashing utility? I'm at home today, so I'll be checking in periodically to see if I have any responses. And I'll go back to those three links and try to re-read everything and maybe learn something.
Thanks again for all the help.

Sorry to hear about your loss, my condolences.
The Ambit website claims their t60h786 should also work in IBM T40/T41/T23/T30.
There are some drivers available here:
http://members.driverguide.com/driver/d ... rid=730097
There's a post on this forum about your card:
http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=42856
Their solution was to ENable wireless in the BIOS, is yours enabled?
I don't know anything about flashing those cards. If needed, only use official software from the official website (if you can find it).
Check that both antennae make proper contact, swap them to see if there is any improvement.
Good luck with this lot.
PS: your card was made by: PCD Global, it is 802.11b/g and has the Atheros chip AR5004G, so should not even need no-1802!

Appreciate your thoughts, thank you.
I did the F1 deal to get into the BIOS and selected "Network" which gives me three (3) already enabled options:
Wake On LAN
Flash over LAN
Internal Network Option ROM
As noted all are enabled. Something must be amiss because when I try to boot I get that message noted earlier in this thread (Warning 01C9 and ERROR 1802, plus a ERROR noting that there is a resource conflict). Incidentally, my system BIOS is version 2.06 dated 2003-07-17.
If I download some drivers from that link... should I be able to use them if the TP won't boot and gets hung up in that message? Or do I remove the card, run the drivers with no card and then re-install and it'll find the drivers in the boot?

In the ThinkWIKI is a post where people cut a 'leg' off the chip, that could solve your problem.
But I think it is better to return it to the seller and get your money back.
Then look for yet another card.
Check signatures of forum-members with a T30, quite a few have their wifi-card mentioned in it. Get the one that you find most of.
I like my own card, even with the 01c9 error, but it is hard to find, and maybe even succeeded by a newer model now.

Cutting the leg off
I was searching for this information, but could not find it. Do you have a link? My card is simply reported as not starting up. The Ambit driver I could not install.RealBlackStuff wrote:In the ThinkWIKI is a post where people cut a 'leg' off the chip, that could solve your problem.

Need some help finishing the process.

I burned a CD and booted from it with the card removed.
I then re-installed the card and re-booted.
The T30 booted right up to WXP.
Of course, I got numerous warnings that my virus protection needed updates, etc. and so on.
I just realized that its not actually communicating with anything and my LinkSys Wireless G gateway is 3 feet away.
I ran PC Doctor but the stuff is mumbo-jumbo to me. In the PCDRNetwork (15) it says "Card does not have a valid address. This is normal for wireless network cards when there are no wireless network receivers nearby or if an existing network has not yet been configured."
So, the question is... where do I go from here? How do I "configure" the new wireless card? When I tried to add a network connection, I'm told the card isn't connected. Huh?
