Hi!
I own a T42p (2373-HTG) with the 60GB@7200RPM harddisk. Approximately two weeks ago I noticed that the harddisk makes a high pitched noise at random intervals and of random duration. I didn't notice this kind of noise before.
When on AC and doing nothin but surfing the web the temperature inside the notebook reads 43 °C and the temperature of the harddisk 31 °C.
Does anyone know if this is normal? Maybe I should run DFT...
PS:
After installing the newest ECP and BIOS I found that the fan is much more silent than before even though it keeps running all the time. At the moment, however I imagine that the fan runs at higher speeds than in the weeks before thus making more noise again - could this have something to do with the harddrive issue (although I would be surprised if it does)?
