T30 ( second hand buy is OK ? )

#1 Post by sco1984 » Thu Apr 12, 2007 1:34 am

Hello,
I saw second hand T30 ThinkPad on a web site for sale. Is it OK to by this model? When this model shipped in market? Price is
589 canada $ . And conf is 1.8,512,40 gb, Wireless G card etc.

Is it ok to buy this laptop ? I am going to sell my existing R50e which is Centrino 1.5,256,40gb .

T30 has some added features like small screen, touchpad, Centrino 1.8, 512 mb ram and slightly light weight compare to R50e.

Thank you,
Regards,
Amey.

The T30 has Pentium 4, not Centrino. It also has USB1.1, much slower than USB2. Your R50e is a better machine, are you sure you want to downgrade? I think you should consider add more RAM to the R50e. 256MB is very little. If you really want to get a new machine, look for at least a T41.

As far as whether second-hand units are okay, just make sure you read the product description very carefully and do research on the seller's reputation. I've owned about 40 laptops and only three of them were purchased new.
