hi!
I use both windows xp and linux (mandriva in this case) on my t43p, and after doing a few mods, its not running too bad on windows xp. It can idle between 45 and 48 degrees most of the time. However, on linux, the temp (as reported by kima) seems to idle much higher, between 52 and 55. Would there be any reason why linux would cause the processor to run hotter?
btw when I get these figures, i am not undervolting, or using fan control. these are just "normal" temps after office work, running on "ondemand" cpu consumption.
cheers

t43p temperature linux vs windows
RE:CPU temps
There are many reasons why the temps could be higher. In linux, look at what you usually run for background programs and effects. Things such as beryl can cause the CPU to work harder even in idle states. You also should take a look at apps that are supposed to run when idle, such a screen savers, timers, and even your CPU monitor (I had an awful time with mine in XP.) Is it possible mandriva uses less fan to save power by default?
Hope this help!
