X31 doesn't work with Bluetooth III

#1 Post by gundam » Fri Oct 01, 2004 12:16 pm

Just to let you guys know X31 (2885) does not support Bluetooth III.
I got the BMDC200B aka 91p7319 a few days ago. I installed and on bootup the bios gave me a error msg. Error 1803 Unauthorized daughter card......
so, now I have to get the Bluetooth II aka 91p7319 unless IBM decides to relaease a bios update. Apparantly, the Bluetooth III is only supported by X40 and T42s..

The Bluetooth III card is very picky. Definitely refer to the Hardware Maintenance Manual for individual models of Thinkpads that support it. For example, some R51's use Bluetooth III while some R51's use the older Bluetooth CDC.

Sounds like the BIOS thinks you have a non-IBM card (?) Might want to send it back to IBM and exchange it.

UPDATE: I have since re-ordered a bluetooth II card and it works perfectly fine. IBM was also nice enough to take the bluetooth III card back with minimal effert. As for the antenna, it came attached to the hinge. Instead of going throught the trouble of replacing the hinge, I ripped the antenna off the hinge and just ran it through the wire-guides up to where the old hinge was. This seems to work very well. No problems. Good range.
