T-22 Memory Upgrade - Clips

#1 Post by Harryc » Thu Apr 12, 2007 10:14 pm

I have a T-22 with 256MB RAM to which I will be adding an additional 256MB. My problem is that the clips that hold the RAM down in the second slot are not working. In other words, if I insert the stick fully and press it down, it pops right up again. I formed (fancy word for bent) the (2) holding clips in slightly thinking they might grip better, but no go. Is there any tip/trick for getting those holding clips to work better?

Are the clips the metal clips or plastic clips? I am pretty sure that I have seen both....but I am really tired at the moment.

If they are the metal clips, you can ever so carefully bend them inward, and that should tighted the grip that they have on the ram sticks.

If the module's printed circuit board is slightly thicker than "normal" OR if the metal clips holding the module in are pushed down toward the motherboard, then they will not grab onto the top side of the module. You can gently "adjust" (another euphemism for bend :) ) the two clips until they grip the module better. A needle-nosed plier works real well if you need to bend the clip at the middle instead of the end.

Thanks for the replies. The clips are metal, so a slight forming upward (away from the mainboard) might do it. I'll try it.
