Heh, one thing i just noticed... i can't enable bluetooth and it's not listed in device manager either. Wallybear's trick in http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=40420 doesn't work either.

To all of you: Does your T60p from Lenovo outlet have the bluetooth working properly?

check the bios; make sure it's enabled.

Yup, Bluetooth is working on my 2623-DDU... as well as "working" can be under Vista's bundled BT drivers, anyway.

I ordered the 2623DDU from PCMall and it is in transit. I still have the order in at Lenovo with a 5/25 ship date. Have also recieved both an email and another phone call from a Lenovo sales person telling me that the order will not be filled and that they have a substitute model for me.

I ignored the substitute. I may not cancel the order for the 2623DDU and see if it ships, then sell it on ebay.

The website is messed up. When you add it to the cart, the part number is 2623KEU, not DDU. The price mentions $1699, but if you buy it through special offers -> Buy Today Ship Today, it is only $1599.

Did you install Vista over the Win XP or did you reformat the whole thing?

I installed the Core 2 Duo (T7400) into my new 2623DDU (replacing the T2500).

What experience have others had with that? I found that the heat sink/fan covered not only the CPU but two other chips that I presume are GPU. These others had silicon pads over them instead of heat transfer compound.

My understanding is that whenever the pads are lifed they should be replaced but I don't have any so I put it back the way it was with only Artic Silver 5 on the CPU.

I received my T60P with the 15" Flexview 1600x1200 display (2623-DDU) on Friday from PCMall. Ordered it at 2PM Thursday; got it 10:30AM Friday Morning.

After much deliberation about screens I am glad I ponied up for the DDU with the Flexview display. The T60P screen is every bit as good as the one on the T42P it replaces and in my opinion much better than the 1280x800 15" wide screen on display at a local big box retailer. I have not personally viewed the 1650x1080 WS display but I am told it is the same quality as the lower resolution version.

True - there is absolutely no ghosting with the T60P; there was very minor ghosting on the T42P. I can also say that the T60P does not have the light leakage on the sides that the T42P had.

I tried to take some photos showing the large amount of backlight difference between the UXGA T42p and UXGA T60p.... both are IDtechs.... it was really hard getting a proper pic showing any differences, but i tried:

I think that before you make decisions on screens, you should make sure that both screens are calibated and viewed in the same light.

Thanks! Any chance you could take a comparison picture with the Windows XP "Autumn" desktop background? This would show differences in color saturation and color temperature.

Congratulations on your purchase! This processor is not old, there is very little difference between it and current 2mhz core2duo. But if you do need upgrade down the road, some people manage to do it.

I got mine through PCMall. I had an order in with Lenovo which just went away. I was never notified (in writing) that they could not fill it. I had a couple of calls from salespeople at Lenovo (who are probably commission based only) that they had a substitute. It was a joke.

Lenovo is not living up to the IBM value system at all. I may file a complaint with the FTC about this. You advertise, accept an order then just ignore it. Hmmm. Does not seam appropriate for business in the US of A.

I would have to say after having used the T60P for a few days the screen does seem better (clearer, brighter).

I put a T7400 (core 2 duo) into a 2623 DDU. Now if I have to send it in and they will be opening up the processor I could loose the warranty on it. I still have the T2500 that came with it so I put it back. That would be obvious to the repair people as it now has ArticSilver5 on it and not the stuff Lenovo uses.

The Thinkpad 600E, made in 1998, is still very useful today. Your T60p will stay useful for at least 6 more years, if you don't break it.

IBM was and is not any better. They too accepted and then ignored an order that I placed about a year ago. Their rating in ResellerRatings isn't that good.

First of all, i'm very sorry i completely missed your reply and question. i didn't see it before i was bored today and just checked random threads which i know i've already seen.

I have some problems calibrating the camera properly. It's extremely hard. No matter what i did, the T60p looks more washed out, but this is due to the fact that it takes the T42 screen as a reference, which in comparison is dimmer.
On the other hand, i'm not sure how old the panel in the T42 is, and for how many hours it has been used.

So the T60p UXGA I mentioned arrived yesterday, and I love it. The screen is awesome, and the laptop looks brand new even though it was an open box item. I think I really did get a good deal on it.
The only thing is that there is one dead pixel on the screen. Since it's a UXGA, it's hardly noticable. Do you guys think it's a big deal to have a dead pixel? Will it cause any problems?

Thanks! I too missed your post for a few days. I agree the color gamut looks similar. Since I have a T42p that gives me an idea of what it looks like. My T60p with 15" LG Philips SXGA+ screen would be more saturated looking.

i'm debating between getting a 2623-DDU or a 15" CTO model and swapping LCDs.
