Can I upgrade my 1.7 to a 2.0?

#1 Post by ipXpert » Fri Oct 01, 2004 8:59 pm

I have a t42 with the 1.7m. Can I upgrade my cpu to the 2.0 and sell my 1.7? By the way, do you think it will be worth the hassle?

thanks,

but, why?

my 1.7 usually runs at 209MHz (go speedstep!)

what do you need more voltage for? are you trying to kill your battery life?

Where did you get this figure? Are you using software other than IBM battery maximizer?

It's not going faster - it's 209 Mhz (ie 0.209 GHz). The PMs usually clock down to 600MHz with speedstep/battery maximizer - I've never seen one fo down to 200MHz (?)

i usually use my tp in super power saver mode because the 15" flexview eats enough battery power-- and i like my screen bright.

check the proc speed under the system control panel, it'll tell you what the proc is running at.

so far, all i've seen is 209, something just under 600, and 1.69G

thing are actually quite usable at 209.

speaking of power management, is there a way to make the proc scale down even while you're plugged in?

You should be able to do that by adjusting your CPU speed to "Adaptive" in the AC part of the profile in the Battery MaxiMiser.
