T60 Purchase Question

#1 Post by STRYPER » Sun Apr 15, 2007 2:22 am

Planing on buying a new T60 any day now. When i bought my T43 i was able to browse through all the prebuilt notebooks on IBM's site. Now, when browsing Lenovo i cant see all the models that are available or their prices. Is there a way to order a specific model or am i forced to customize? Im looking through the tabook and wishing i could see these models displayed online. Should i call Lenovo and order or order online?

Here is a general breakdown of what im looking to buy. Any advice on models are welcome!

T60/T60P
14.1 SXGA+
Core 2 Duo - 2.0 GHz
1 - 2 GB RAM
128 - 256 MB Graphics
80 GB 5400 Hard Drive
DVD+/-RW
9 Cell Battery
3 Year Warranty

I dual boot WinXP and Linux

Hrm, you're right... strange, because Lenovo Canada's online store still lets you "show all models" (there are 15 pages of T60/T60p models) and also do an order by SKU number. Maybe you should call Lenovo and order it from a human? Matt Kohut mentioned in lenovoblogs.com that they are moving away from zillions of pre-built SKUs and towards a completely CTO system.

Are you sure you can't wait for the new T61 coming out around May 8?

How did you know? from notebookreview.com's old news? that's just expected date but not confirmed.
"I've come a long, long way," she said, "and I will go as far,
With the man who takes me from my horse, and leads me to a bar."

I agree. May 8th is the release date for Santa Rosa, and that article was just saying that the T61 will be out at around that time, which could mean a week later, a month later, etc.

Even if so, I wouldn't be surprised if availability is limited or spotty for some months after that.

I called Lenovo today (4/16) and the guy i talked to said they wont be out untill around June-July.

On a side note, i compared the discounted CTO prices online vs prebuilt and the prebuilt was the better value.
