T30 low clock when battery is off

#1 Post by mauro » Sun Apr 15, 2007 4:54 am

Hi to all,
I've noticed that when my T30 (type 2366, 2GHz) is without battery maximum clock frequency is 1.2 GHz. BIOS setting (BIOS level 2.1, latest version) is maximum performance, and I did very CPU-intensive operations but the clock didn' t increase.
I use NHC to measure it.
If the battery is on, and with AC on, the clock frequency is 2GHz.
How can I reach the highest clock frequency without battery? I'd like to put the battery away to increase its life time preventing continuous charging.

Thank you for your suggestions!

Mauro

Simple answer, you can't. For whatever reason, those TPs are only capable to run at full speed when both a fully charged battery AND the adapter are plugged in.

Are you saying only T30's exhibit this behavior? I've never heard of such a thing.

Have you got the battery maximaster installed and set to maximum performance (even in battery mode, considering what you're trying to do)? I'm pretty sure that I've run mine at 2 ghz and played games on it while the battery was set out.

You can download a clock-speed checking tool from Intel's website: http://tinyurl.com/hfr72
