How to reinstall Diskeeper?

#1 Post by rmendoza » Mon Apr 16, 2007 12:56 pm

Hi everyone,

I have a small problem. After I upgraded to vista, from XP pro, Diskeeper does not let me use it, and instead wants me to pay for it. I uninstalled it thinking that I could download it from the Lenovo site, but so far I have not been able to find it. Needless to say, I like diskeeper better that the Windows defrag utility. Does anyone know how to solve this problem? Thanks.

I called Lenovo and they refused to help me. They said that since Diskeeper came with XP, I was on my own when it came to Vista. This scared me and I asked to talk to a supervisor. He clarified that they would support Vista, but that when it came to Diskeeper, I was indeed on my own, and if I wanted to pay for it, that was my choice.

This seems a kind of screwy to me, but I didn't want to argue anymore.

Try contacting diskeeper and explain the situation. Ask about licensing and ask them how to trasnfer it over to Vista. Lenovo is right in that there is not much they can do about it. It's regretable that they didn't say "you're on your own because we are not authorized to discuss licensing issue, but Diskeeper will probably be able to help you"

Edit: Front page of diskeeper.

As long as you haven't wiped your previous installation files, (or you remember the key, you should be in business. Please let me know if that works for you.
