Kaspersky or Norton Internet Security 2007 with Vista ?

I have a new x60 tablet and my free trial is almost up with Norton Internet Security 2007. My question is should I uninstall this and go with Kasperky or just renew the Norton? I run Vista Business.

Ive read both good and bad about both and was wondering how the people who use both like it. Does Kaspersky take up many resources?

I would definitely remove Norton! The only decent Norton version is the Corporate versions.

I would recommend Trend Micro Internet Security 2007 or Kaspersky.

I use the corporate version of Trend Micro in our office and TM IS 2007 on all other computers not attached to the domain. TM is VERY light on resources. TM IS 2007 will scan for viruses, spyware, spam, vulnerabilities, and also includes a nice firewall.

I also use TM IS 2007 on my VISTA computer at home.

I have also used Kaspersky on client machines and it is also really light on resources.

The only good personal AVs are NOD32 and Kaspersky. Kaspersky can be heavy on system resources though.
(and this forum gives us 20% off NOD32, which is my preferred choice anyway)

I would highly recommend NOD32. I've used TM PC-Cillin too, but since 2006, they've had a flaw in the program which results in the CPU usage stuck at 100%...they have since to fix the problem.

My vote goes to Kaspersky, although you will have to pay for yearly license.

I'm currently using one of the free AV softwares.

on my xp machines i use zone alarm AV which is in beta for vista currently...
in the meantime on my vista machine i use Avast AV which has a free yearly subscription. use that in combo with windows firewall for now and my experience has been very good so far. check out Avast and see if it's for you. it has very good reviews as well.

I don't doubt you; however, I am responsible for 100+ computers all using Trend Micro and I have YET to have one problem with resource usage.

I'm currently using Fserve Corporate Version 2007, and I am wondering if running on the X60T will use to many system resources and jeopordize battery life. Right now on my desktop it doesn't seem to be utilizing too much.

I have been running AVG Professional for some time now on my desktop along with AdAware, and Spybot. The occasional check with "HijackThis" shows a pretty clean system. I've been very satisfied.

However, I will soon be joining the ranks of X60 Thinkpad tablet users -- and in joining the forum, you can't miss the NOD32 hyperlink at the top of the page. I was impressed -- there are videos and PDF files which are very informative about how the top AV programs function and use resources (of course each compared with NOD32)

This AV software:

> supports VISTA
> supports both 32 bit and 64 bit technology
> Has "Anti-Stealth" technology which can even find rootkits AFTER they are planted, not just as they are installed
> Expanded definitions of malware, and
> Does all this conserving resources!

IMHO, it is worth a look for the personal user...
