Are these perhaps T61s?

Then how do you explain the availability of 15.4" WUXGA screens? 14.1" 1680x1050 has 140.5 dots per inch, whereas the 15.4" WUXGA has 147 DPI. My Dell has the latter resolution and I love it.

I think the most compelling evidence is the existence of the wide-screen 14" model. It seems highly unlikely that Lenovo would introduce a new model with such a substantial change this close to a major platform revision and for that new model not to be based on the new platform.
@Nilonym

After having seen this post: http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=41542 I have to admit that it seems your assumtions were correct and mine wrong :(

Good call :thumbs-UP:

WSXGA+ on a 14.1" display is only about 10% higher DPI than the much-lamented UXGA 15.1" 4:3 IPS displays. So to say that no one will buy it -- especially with Vista's ability to scale the display elements -- is a bit rash IMHO.

My Z61p has the same resolution, it is nice except when I'm tired and the laptop isn't terribly close to me.

I'm not claiming to know anything about T61 or whatever - I'm claiming that no laptop manufacturer uses 14.1" WSXGA+ screens.

The fact of the matter is that most of the public doesn't care for high res screens: things are "hard to read." I've worked in IT support and you won't believe how many people turned their screen res to 800x600. 1680x1050 pixels stuffed in 123 sq. inches is quite different than 1680x1050 over 141 sq. inches.

Let's make it $10 :) (All in good fun)

I accept non-CC Paypal only. LOL!

Just minutes ago, Gator reassured me that there will be a WSXGA+ T61p. If he turns out to be wrong, I will make him pay you $10!

14'' WSXGA+ LCD's do exist, so it is possible that a T61p with this resolution will appear. Look for example at

Looking up that part number, it appears that it is actually a WXGA+ screen. Could have been a typo because one of the search results lists a resolution of 1440x900.

..[censored] you are right, I still hope there will be a WSXGA+ screen but it doesn't look like LCD's with that resolution exist (yet?)
