Operating System: Vista Business
Thinkpad Access Connection Version: 4.31b
Notebook: TP60p
I am not able to connect to Wireless networks which have SSID, and a Shared WEP key using Thinkvantage Access Connection. If I change the authentication setting on the router to 'Open' instead of 'Shared', I can connect right away.
I can see the problem in diagnostics where Access Connection is using Open instead of Shared as Authentication. This is despite the fact that when setting up the configuration settings on Access Connection, I am correctly choosing it to be a shared WEP key to match on the router.
I appears to be a bug with IBM's Access Connection software. The tech support has not been able to help. I am wondering if anyone has encountered the same problem and has been able to resolve it.
Bug In Access Connection When Using Shared WEP Key

I am really questioning the need for Access Connection when Vista does such a good job with wireless connections. See my comments on this thread:

"Windows Vista can manage your wireless connections just fine. If you remove Access Connection you may possibly be satified with the results...this includes faster connection, and higher download speed."
Others are very satisfied with AC...I could not resolve my problems on a Z61t with Vista.
You might look at a somewhat related issue and solution at:

I'm not having this problem with ac. Maybe it's a driver problem with the lenovo provided intel wlan drivers.
There are new drivers available directly from intel. I have them installed since they solved my problem with the poor signal strenght to my ap.
Maybe that helps: http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scripts ... rdMap=2259
