i feel like removing the keyboard and put a business card in the affected area or something.

Re: T41 flimsy keyboard?
This is unfortunately a common problem that was present on my T40. I took some very thin packing foam (about the thickness of a small coin) and taped some pieces to the underside of the keyboard. I've had 0 problems since
This works very well, but you must be careful to not tape the foam over the airholes under the keys, or the keys will not spring back quickly after being pressed.

Homebuilt PC: AMD Athlon XP (Barton) @ 1.47 GHz; nForce2 Ultra; 1GB RAM; 80GB HDD @ 7200RPM; ATI Radeon 9600; Integrated everything else!
Mine is the left side...
The keyboard gives a little, but I can live with it...
I have to say though, that the left palm is creaky - And trying to secure the screw I broke the head off. Oops! It's one of those "star" types.
I'm still deciding to order the palm rest replacement and venture in to changing it myself to get the stub off the laptop...It only bothers me when I think of it

Yeah, my T41p keyboard gives a little on the right side. Does it matter really? It doesn't affect typing or the feel at all. I think it would be too much trouble to send it in for repair when all it does is give about two milimeters. Lets face it guys a computer cannot be perfect no matter how expensive it is, they are still in mass production. Besides the keyboard is many notches above the keyboards on laptops from other manufacturers I have had.

According to Conmee, the keyboard on the T42 does not have this problem, so yeah, I guess computers *can* be perfectLmax wrote:Yeah, my T41p keyboard gives a little on the right side. Well, perhaps, but then again Conmee reviewed a 15" model which of course will be different keyboard wise because it has a plastic face trim that covers the sides of the keyboard more than on the 14" model. Considering the 14" has the exact same external shell as the T40/41 it will still give in these models. If that one doesn't give either then I guess a computer *can* be "perfect."Txiasaeia wrote:According to Conmee, the keyboard on the T42 does not have this problem, so yeah, I guess computers *can* be perfect

Hmm, you're right... I'd be very interested to know whether IBM has fixed this problem on the T42 w/14" screen, or if we'll need to resort to napkins againLmax wrote:Well, perhaps, but then again Conmee reviewed a 15" model which of course will be different keyboard wise because it has a plastic face trim that covers the sides of the keyboard more than on the 14" model.
