T41 random freeze and weird screens

one of my T41 (2373) has started to act up. i get random freezing, and weird paterns on the screen. i read thru a few of the posts earlier and tried runing the laptop with the keyboard open, it runs fine. i checked w/ TPfancontrol and everything seems fine. I am wondering if the problem is caused by the GPU / CPU heat. Would replacing the short fan by a long fan fix the problem? anyhow has had any luck fixing this, aside from replacing the overly expensive mainboard?

any help / suggestions are welcomed.

When you restart your T41 after the freezing, do you get an Error Report prompt? If you do, did you try sending it?

I've been experiencing similar symptoms on my laptop too... I get random lockups (even though the cpu temp is ~40C) and random dead pixels (which clear after a restart). After submitting the error report and selecting more information, I get a note stating that it was due to my GPU...
