R31 512mb RAM not fitting
R31 512mb RAM not fitting
I recently bought a 512mb RAM stick for my 1.06ghz r31 laptop, however, the RAM is double the thickness of my old sticks (128mb original and 256 I added a while ago), and therefore, the RAM cover will not close well. Also, the RAM clips will not click closed because of the added thickness. I am wondering if this is abnormal or if they sell a "bubble" cover which will accomodate the thicker stick, or... Please help me and feel free to ask me more questions if you need more info

is the memory part you bought using "stacked" memory..?
if so that might account for the extra thickness and thus the inability to snap in place..
usually, this is a mark of really cheap memory..
when it is stacked, that is..
using cheaper parts and stacking them to yeild the needed density..

Yes, the memory is "stacked" which I presume means that its just a 256 chip with an extra layer. Here is the actual auction I bought it from

If anyone has suggestions of what to do, it would be most appreciated.
PS: Right now I'm using the RAM and it works seemingly just fine, only problem is that the cove bends up a little because of the extra thickness due to the "Stack"
