T43p-2669 manufacturer question
T43p-2669 manufacturer question
Hello,
I have an offer from someone for a 2669-CTO model. This is really a top of the line model (SXGA, 2 Ghz, 2 GB Ram, 128 MB FireGL) with one exception, being only DVD\CDRW.
I was wondering if anyone would know if these models were made by Lenovo or IBM. I have a T60 now and dont really fancy it. Want to go back to IBM made TP.
Any help in answering this is much appreciated.
Thanks!

Re: T43p-2669 manufacturer question
The T43 that I owned had poorer build quality than my current T60. Plus, a huge number of T43's have fan noise problems (mine did). Finally, all T43's give the notorious 2010 error message for hard drives that they don't like. For these reasons, the T43 was considered by many to be the most problematic of the T4* series. So, make sure you inspect this particular T43 thoroughly before committing to buy it.balapavan wrote:I was wondering if anyone would know if these models were made by Lenovo or IBM. If you really want a 100% IBM-made Thinkpad, you need to go all the way back to the T2* series.

I don't not recommend buying a T43P since I had one before and its noise almost drove me crazy. I don't want you to relive what I did.
Get a T60. There are some great deals you can find.

Well, Thanks for all the replies. Thats very disappointing. I am not very happy about the T60 I currently have (software problems, fingerprint hardware failures just after 6 months. Dont get me started on teh keyboard quality. the design overall is not as *enticing* as T43 is). I was hoping that i would be at ease if i had a T43.
Thanks anyways!
Thanks anyways!
T60's keyboard is not good enough? Let me tell you something, I just got the new T43p keyboard on April 20 directly from Lenovo. It's really bad, too much softer. I also have a T60, the keyboard is not good as T42 but it's better than this new one I currently have.

If you don't want your T60, I am sure you can donate it to someone, for example, me.balapavan wrote:Well, Thanks for all the replies. Thats very disappointing. Thats the whole point. I dont want to bash Lenovo (i am sure some like what they are making), but IMHO the keyboard quality (and the system in general) has gone down. If you have bought a keyboard from Lenovo, you have two options, and there have been varied opinions on their quality. Another reason for me to go back to T43.bin.dong wrote:T60's keyboard is not good enough? Let me tell you something, I just got the new T43p keyboard on April 20 directly from Lenovo. I recommend you to consider getting a T42p. Quite a few people think it's the best of the T4* series.balapavan wrote:Another reason for me to go back to T43.

I daresay few who suffered through the keyboards on the 760s will complain about the current keyboards. I have no idea which keyboard is on my T60, but it's as good as the one on my T40. Neither of them compare to the ones on the 600s, of course, but that's when ThinkPads overall hit their peak in my opinion.balapavan wrote:Thats the whole point.
