Very high pitched almost inaudible but INTOLERABLE noise

#1 Post by noetus » Sat Apr 21, 2007 7:08 pm

I know that others have posted about high-pitched noises, but I didn't see a post relating to exactly what I'm experiencing - a new T42P, when it sits in the Dock II there is a very high pitched, almost at the end of the upper audible spectrum and for that reason intolerable noise emanating somewhere from it. The thing is, the laptop can be OFF and it still makes this noise - it just has to be plugged into the Dock II. I have another T42 and there is no issue with that, plugged into the same Dock II or not. People have said that they live with various noises, but I cannot live with this - it gives me a headache after about 10 minutes. It's not loud, but that's not the point - it's the frequency that drives me insane. I will test later to see if plugging it into any power supply will make it make this noise. If that's the case, is there anything I can do? It's under EzServe warranty - this is the sort of thing that IBM should fix, no?

How did you fare with the noise issue? I can empathize with your situation. The high-pitched fly-back noise in many conventional TV's is very noticeable for me. ..Ogg
