T30 Freezeups @ login and boot

My T30 has started behaving badly.

About once every 5 bootups, it locks hard, either at the logon screen (where I enter my password) or while loading my desktop. Computer is completely unresponsive. Only recourse is to hard power off.

Not sure what it could be. Anyone else run into this before?

My gf has the exact problem. Not sure what the cause is, cant help you.

There is an engineering "fix" out from IBM that involves a memory slot problem with the T30. There was a post here that alerted me. My T30 is in on-site warranty so I called and the next day a guy came and replaced the motherboard. I wasn't having any problems, but wanted it as a preventative measure.
Your problem sounds like a memory glitch if it's so random. Give IBM a call.

Actually, this is a replacement system board, wondering if they swapped in one with a bad slot.

It's scheduled to go in for evaluation on my power issue, hopefully, they can get it to misbehave for them, too.
