Trying to download updates.

#1 Post by Reo51St » Mon Apr 23, 2007 10:34 am

My R50 is acting very unstable when trying to download MS Updates. It checks for updates and in the middle it comes up with Generic Host Process for Win 32 Services has encountered a problem.

Some times it just comes up with that it encountered an error and must end that process.

Running XP with SP2 and trying to get latest updates.

Any ideas???

Thanks.

I believe this a a windows service related issue. I know there are two services that must be running in automatic on for update to install. Those would be Automatic Updates and Background Intelligence Transfer Service. I think there is third, but it should be running anyway because Windows requires it to run properly. Are you using Microsoft update through Internet Explorer or the Automatic update service. Try the other option if the one you are using is having problems. I have had problem doing updates through internet explorer. I use the Automatic Updates program already in Windows, but I have it just notify me about updates do it doesn't downliad unless I tell it to.
I have finally rejoined the dark side.
