Temperature monitor freeware

#1 Post by ttay1977 » Mon Apr 23, 2007 1:23 pm

I've done a search but wasn't successful. Can someone recommend simple freeware to monitor the CPU/GPU temp? Thanks.

I use MobileMeter . There is also NHC, which I have not used but I believe several members here have.

I am not sure if the above programs monitor GPU temperatures or not. The information on the above websites seem to indicate that they don't. I just installed Thinkpad Fan Control which monitors all the temps including GPU. You can find information on it and download it from the ThinkPad Utility Work Area forum right here on this website. It is a free program.

My only fault with ThinkPad Fan Control is that it puts a lot of warning messages in Event Viewer when it is running. So far I am just using it in BIOS controlled mode for monitoring the temps.

I found it also works in Vista if you right-click on it's executable fancontrol.exe and choose to Run as administrator.

NHC does monitor GPU temps with the ACPI add-on that troubadix wrote. It's available here: http://staff-www.uni-marburg.de/~schmitzr/nhc_tpfc.zip. Be sure to read the 'readme'.

Thanks. :)

I just downloaded and installed both NHC and the ACPI add-on that troubadix wrote. I was a little puzzled where to get the Intel Core Duo and Intel Core 2 Duo patch referenced in the readme file included in troubadix's zip file above. Turns out it is on NHC's website. I edited the xml files referenced in the readme file using Windows Notepad.

I found a fix for this too in the ThinkPad Utility Work Area forum.

I downloaded a free hex editor from CNET to effect the fix above. I chose the following: PSPad editor 4.5.2 (2241)
