On one hand, in the calm of the early evening, when I have had a chance to read the documentation, ensure my battery is charged, and the machine is on AC, I usually do BIOS updates.

On the other hand, while travelling, and assuming the machine is operating fine, I wait until later. I have not seen a BIOS update so critical that one should risk a non-operating machine while working or travelling.

I installed it, and it seems to work fine, the inly thing I had to do is turn BT off after the boot, I usually have it off and after this BIOS update it was on. No bigh deal being the only thing I had to do. I agree with jdhurst, if I were on the road I wuld wait untill i get to place where I can access my data if this thing died for whatever reason. I have expreinced and read many posts about motherboard becoming a piece of expensive plastic after BIOS updates, almost all of the instances are caused by the user, but there is the 0.01% that happens for not apparant reason.

The fix seems particularly important for Core 2 Duo based T60 / T60 WS, since it contains a microcode update for that specific processor.

Also ATI x1400 owners should apply the update, because battery life while playing DVDs was improved.

Bios 2.12

Thanks for the replies. I guess i wasnt clear when i asked for thoughts. I was referring to the critical level of the bios and had anyone done it. I agree to wait until situated at home. I will be upgrading the bios in a few min now that i am home, and not relying on battery power. (Then again, i am not sure you can flash on battery anyways)
