video problem with T41

#1 Post by noeffort » Mon Apr 23, 2007 4:57 pm

I have a T41 has a black screen. I connected a remote monitor and the video is ok. Could the problem be a possible loose cable?

Thanks in advance.

Did it just stop working suddenly? Or was your screen getting dim over time?

It could be the backlight died or a loose cable ......

screen was bright with no problems, it stopped working suddenly.
I have it apart and cables check ok to MB. I haven't checked the end that goes into the display yet.

Try depressing the little nub next to the left display hinge a couple of times to make sure the switch isn't stuck or acting up. If there is no change, then the first probability IMO is the inverter card which is mounted in the bottom of the display lid (there is also a chance that it could have become unplugged from the display cable). The second probability IMO would be the motherboard. The third probability IMO would be the backlight itself, which is mounted in the bottom of the LCD panel.

Shine a flashlight into the screen while it is running. If it is the inverter (or the backlight) you will see a dim image.

The screen is very dim, I don't need a flashlight but can see it.

The only light now lit is the wireless led, the others will not light. I didn't have a philips screwdriver small enough to remove the display (lcd panel) to look at the cable to the invertor bd., I will check tuesday.

Thanks, looks like it is the backlight or inverter.

I tried changing the backlight on my 600x, the screen looked green after I went thru all the trouble of replacing it. I ended up installing a new screen/cover for the a few bucks more.

Hope I don't have the same problem...

Thanks
