Client Security Solution seems to be gone from system?

#1 Post by umdenken » Mon Apr 23, 2007 9:21 pm

A while ago I created a secure drive, and stored some things on it. At some point, I believe I disabled CSS. This left me with a "SecureDrive.vol" file.

Now I want to re-enable the secure drive, but I can't find CSS anywhere. I have a T-42. I don't know how the software would have gotten deleted... I've simply periodically updated my apps and drivers to the latest available.

Is there someplace it'd be that I'm not thinking of? And, some easy way to mount this drive?

I went to the Lenovo site to look at downloading CSS, and it's very complicated. The installer fails with a strange message about CSS v. 7. The instructions on the page says that first, the Rescue software v. 4 must be installed - and this is a .5 gigabyte download!

Is there something I'm missing?

Thanks -

The latest version of CSS does not include the secure drive feature, so don't waste your time.

If you don't need what's in there just delete the .vol file. If you do, you will need to find a copy of the installer for 6.0 (should still be on the Lenovo site). You'll also probably need to uninstall R&R.

Good luck.
Once you get into the file, you may want to consider swtching to TrueCrypt.
