Help!! - No ThinkPad Power Management icon on T40

#1 Post by kinglouie3 » Wed Apr 25, 2007 4:09 am

Hey,

Its my first post!

I need some help on completing the configuration of Vista Business on a Thinkpad T40.

I cannot get the Power Management icon to appear on the taskbar. I have installed the latest version of the ThinkPad Power Management driver v1.41 from Lenovo website.

Specs of the ThinkPad are as follows:
Model: 2373-KG9
CPU: Pentium 1.5GHz
RAM: 1.5GB
Graphics: 32MB ATI Radeon 7500
Disk: 100GB Hitachi Travelstar 7K100
Battery: 9 Cell extended

Windows Experience Index rating of 1 (Yippee!)
Processor: 3.2
Memory: 4.0
Graphics: 1.0
Gaming Graphics: 1.0
Hard disk: 5.0

If you can provide links to download the relevant software then it will be appreciated.

Thank you!!

Well, the T40 is not officially supported for Vista, but perhaps the drivers for the T41 will work.

You need the following:
1. Power Management (ACPI) 1.41 - which you have
2. Lenovo Interface Driver 1.0
3. Power Manager 2.01
4. Hotkey Driver 2.00.0611 (you'll probably want this too)

Drivers and software - ThinkPad T40, T40p, T41, T41p

The better and easier way is to install System Update 3 for Vista and then let it pull up available softwares/drivers for your system. You can then select whichever you want.
You will need to install the ThinkVantage Power Manager software to get the icon in the task bar.
Z61p - 9452 JRU, XP pro 32-bit, 15.4 WUXGA, Core 2 Duo 2.0 GHz, 160GB-54k HDD, 2GB-RAM, 256MB-VRAM, Intel ABG Pro, Bluetooth, DVD Multi Burn.

GomJabbar - you are a star!! :D

I installed the software from the links you suggested.
Its all working and there have been no problems so far.

Do you have any suggestions on how to get the wireless to work??
The wireless led is always on, but I cannot turn the radio on via Access Connections.

Thank you! :)

Uninstall Access Connections, then uninstall your wireless driver software. You can do this from Programs and Features in Vista's Control Panel. If you have not installed the Hotkey Driver version 2.00.0611, then do it now. Next install the correct wireless driver software for your card, then install Access Connections version 4.31b. The wireless driver software is available from the links in the chart on the following page. After installing all, reboot.

Use Fn + F5 to open the dialog box for turning your wireless adapter on and off. You will have to configure a profile in Access Connections to be able to connect. You will need to know the wireless encryption methods and any key used by your router or access point.
