lcd "clips" for T42

#1 Post by spotter » Wed Apr 25, 2007 11:36 am

One of the clips on my T42p (15" 1600x1200) laptop died, I was told that they aren't replaced under warrenty. Is that true? presuming it is, how much do they cost (where do I get them?) and how hard are they to replace (I'm relatively handy).

thanks.

By clicps, did you by any chance mean the 2 latches that hold the LCD cover shut close to the palm rest?

If so, as far as I know, they cannot be bought separately through Lenovo. You should be looking at the LCD cover kit 13R2917, 3rd part on item # 1

Although you might find someone willing to part out their broken cover kits in the marketplace. They could be tricky to replace as well since you need to remove the whole LCD assembly to get to them.

Yes, if you haven't tried doing this before, this might be very difficult.

Check the Hardware Maintainence Manual for your model laptop. Under the Parts List there is a Sub heading for LCD parts.

There should be a listing for a LCD miscellaneous parts kit (PN 13N5409 for T41) which has the latches and some other parts.

There is a left latch available on eBay right now. http://tinyurl.com/3auu5u

You only need to remove the front bezel to replace the latch. Piece of cake unless you have 2 left hands.

I only see a listing for "LCD miscellaneous parts" for the 14.1" model

Are they the same?
