Hi,
We found problem to buy memory module that has no problem with TP on other manufacturer than IBM.
In description of modules IBM there is :
"Serial presence detect/decode"
This is strange.
Is it possible that the module give a serial to MB and this one accept or reject module ?
Or is it another subject ?
Memory again memory... Serial ? T21 &...

T42 is paid and I hope seller is serious (pro). Waiting it.(no signs, reclaim in place)

Serial Presence Detect (SPD) is actually an EEPROM (electrically programmable read-only memory) that is also mounted on the memory module. If you look closely, you should see an 8-pin chip, usually mounted in one of the corners of the board. This EEPROM stores information about the capabilities of the module itself (memory size, speed, what CAS latencies (CL) it can run at, timing setup information and manufacturer and yes, possibly a serial number).
I am not aware of any motherboard which will use the manufacturer and/or serial number data inside the SPD to say whether or not the module can be used.

It will be interesting to know it.
No one in this forum has link with technical service of Lenovo ?
I wrote another post to try to see if non official modules goes on if volunteers accept to test and users accept to look at which modules they are...
