The FlexView SXGA+ that I have used (ID Tech) was *gorgeous*. That said, once I finally decided to make the leap to the rather bulky 15" chassis, I wasn't about to stay at the same resolution that I had on my 14" model so I jumped when the 15" UXGA became available again and have absolutely loved it.
The only hesitation I would have is if you game or work with video the ghosting is going to be distracting at times (full screen anyway). I don't know if the SXGA+ is better in this regard or not. I would guess that a search of the forum will dig up a conversation or two on ghosting if that concerns you.
You might want to look at this thread if you haven't already.

There are already alot of opinions about what you should do -- and here is another suggestion. If you have never seen a UXGA screen, you really should, as some people hate the small text size. Both panels are IPS, so they should be good screens.cpfuller wrote:My debate is 1600 x 1200 FlexView over Core 2 Duo. What is your opinion.

Now, if you love the UXGA resolution, the only way to get that is to get a system with a CoreDuo processor. The CoreDuo can be upgraded to a Core2Duo (socket M -- not the new Socket P which is coming out with Santa Rosa) pretty easily. Although this will add about $300 to the cost of the system
There have been a couple of studies showing that the Core2Duo is about 10% better performance wise clock-for-clock:
http://www.anandtech.com/cpuchipsets/sh ... spx?i=2808
However, is 10% really worth $300? To me not really. Plus unless you have a need for a 64bit processor right now, the Core2Duo doesn't add a whole lot of benefit.
Finally, I will end with another opton. Unless you just love the IPS displays. You may want to consider a Z61p (assuming you can find one for a good price).
My Z61p has:
2.0Ghz Core2Duo
1.5GB ram
256MB V5200 ATI FireGL
15.4in WUXGA - NOT IPS display.
100 GB HD
DVD-DL burner
Core 2 Duo
The decision was made for me. The core duo was out of stock when I ordered it so I got the xsvga+ core 2 duo.
Thanks for everyones input.
