Wireless adapter no longer in fn+F5 menu

Like the title says, my wireless adapter no longer appears on the OSD when I hit fn+F5. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the hotkey program, but it was no help.

Background:
I have the Intel 3945 card, and I don't like access connections. I've removed that and am using the latest version Intel drivers and Pro/Set wireless to manage my connections.

Last night I was trying to connect to an ad hoc network and was having difficulty. I ended up in a condition where the wireless card was rapidly connecting and disconnecting (3+ times/sec). The only way to kill it was to uninstall the network drivers.

After the reinstall, everything was fine. The card works and I can turn it on and off via the system try icon for Pro/Set. I would, however, like to have the functionality on the fn+F5 menu.

How to I get the hotkey program to have the wireless card again? Is there a registry or ini file I need to tweak somewhere?

Fixed it. It seems the Lenovo hotkey utility does not get along with a clean install of the latest drivers off of Intel's site (11.1.0.0). I uninstalled that version and then installed the latest version off of Lenovo's site (10.5.3.1). After that the wireless card appeared fine when hitting fn+F5.

Next I ran the setup for PROSet/Wireless and the newer driver (same install program) without uninstalling 10.5.3.1. It seems this somehow tricks hotkey to still allow it to see the NIC, but still updates the drivers and PROSet to manage multiple network connections.

Hopefully this will help out the next guy to have this problem.

Now if I could just figure out how to make Fn+F3 actually change power profiles I'd be set. Yes, I've searched the forums and tried pretty much every solution posted, short of a clean install. I just don't have time for that. Nothing will override the windows power management setting.

I'm glad you got the F5 problem fixed. For others out there with the same problem, I have another solution which worked for me.

I'm running Vista Ultimate and had the same problem, where the Hotkey wireless control applet (TpFnF5.exe) shows up in Task Manager, but will not display on screen. The driver version was not the issue in my case. I found that the TpFnF5.exe applet has a dependency upon the Access Connections Main Service.

Now, I always disable all components of AC, as I don't use it. But I found if I leave the rest of AC disabled, but turn on the AC Main Service, the F5 hotkey works again.

F3 power control works fine for me, so I'm afraid I can't help with that one.
