IBM T43P Recovery Disk
IBM T43P Recovery Disk
Does anyone know where I can find a recovery disk for the IBM T43P? I have some software problems that I can't seem to fix and want to start fresh. Any help is greatly appreciated.

well if your recovery partition is still there (i.e. you haven't deleted it) you could just do a system restore:Scahtie wrote:Does anyone know where I can find a recovery disk for the IBM T43P? long link
or you could try Ebay, that's what i did for my T40, and i think i paid far less then i would have through Lenovo..

Intereistingly enough, I tried doing system restore and it says that I am missing all this [censored] and that I need to use a recovery disk. Furthermore, any program I use in system restore does not operate to completion. It could be possible that I deleted some files, but I doubt that I would do that.
If I get a recovery disk off ebay, what exactly willl be on it and what will be the protocols? Will windows and office be removed from my computer? Or will everything besides the operating system be replaced?
I am in the San Diego area.
Thanks for the help and more is appreciated.

The Product Recovery Disc set deletes all partitions and erases everything on your hard drive, then it creates the FAT32 service partition for Rescue and Recovery and the NTFS C: partition for Windows. It restores Windows and all the software as it came originally from IBM. If you want to use these discs, be sure and make a full backup of your existing setup - or at the minimum backup your data files. I recommend a full backup because sometimes you forget some items otherwise.
EDIT: Yes, they will remove Office as that is not in the factory preload. You will still have WinDVD, DLA, and RecordNow! however.

Dimitri is correct, original CDs are on silver face CDs with black print.
You should be careful also of those selling recovery CDs that does not contain any OS (only drivers).

Re: IBM T43P Recovery Disk
FWIW it's worth, I have both sets. One from e-bay (looks just like the one in the link) and an official copy from IBM (which I got for free). Both set's work fine.Dimitri_P wrote:Those are copies.rrgane wrote: link
