Unauthorized Network Card

#1 Post by zahir » Mon Apr 30, 2007 1:45 am

I have an R51 with a weird problem. Normally the machine works satisfactorily but off late the laptop just hangs. When i reboot, i get this message. 'WARNING! Unauthorized Network Card - Please unplug Mini-PCIe card and restart' I gave my laptop to IBM, they didn't seem to face the problem during their testing but they reloaded windows for me anyway. For a week it worked fine but yesterday the problem started again.

I've noticed this error only shows up when I'm on the Wifi Network. I also have a Huwaie Datacard for internet access, when I use that, it works fine....

Help me!

If you have any warranty left on that machine, send it back or tell them to send you a card and replace it yourself. Look in event viewer and see what the error msg is at the time of the event and copy down any error codes that come with the message, might help.

Could be, in XP go to control panel> admin tools>event viewer and look under system or application, there may be an event there related to your network card. Did this behavior start after you started using the Huwaie? If so I'd check thier web site for issues or uninstall the software related to that device, see what happens, then call tech support and tell them it has started acting up again and to send you a card.

I've had BSOD from using a D-link pcmcia card a long time ago before I bought the mini pci.

If you boot up without the PCMCIA wireless card does it give the error.

This is troubleshooting, ruling things out to try and find the cause of the problem.

OK, remove the mini pci card, get the HMM for your machine, if your using a pcmcia wireless card you don't need it anyway, even still is there any events in event viewer, you can also run PC doctor.

If you go to device manager and expand the network adapters please tell me what is in there for wirelessb.?
