T43 heat & noise same as T60??

#1 Post by palta » Tue May 01, 2007 7:55 am

I purchased a brand new T43 and have been using it now for 3 months. I must say that I’m pretty frustrated with it: first of all the known HD issue (error 2010), then the heat and finally the annoying fan noise. I have come a long way using Thinkpads (240, 600X, T22, T30, T41 and now T43), but this seems the worst. Is it the end of the high quality IBM Thinkpads? I'm seriously thinking of giving it up and either move to a T60 or some other brand, maybe HP.

Questions: Does the T60 come with the same limitations? Is the heat and resulting fan noise due to the 2GHz processor (the highest I ever used) and do lower ones (1.6 or 1.8 GHz) produce less heat and noise?

The T60 is definitely not as hot as the T43, the chassis has been redesigned. As to noise, well some people think its noisy, some don't. BUt the overall consensus is that it is far, far better than a T43. If you plan to get one, you won't be disappointed.
Now: T60 2613-EKU | T23 2647-9NU | 600X 2645-9FU | HP 100LX
Past: X31 2673-Y13 | T41 2374-3HU | T22 2647-AEU

As far as the palmrest is concerned, my T60 is warmer than the T43. I don't know about the temperatures of other components though. But in all other respects, I like my T60 more. Like gator said, you won't be disappointed with the T60.
