X60 Tablet, clean install

#1 Post by eric@franke » Wed May 02, 2007 8:57 am

I have a X60 Tablet and I did a clean install of XP, so I can build an unattended install to setup multiple machines. I have the tablet part working on my test machine, but I can't seem to get the Tablet Shortcut Menu working properly. I have the program and the driver installed, but none of the buttons on the screen work, and when I click the Configure Tablet and Pen Settings button, the screen goes away and does nothing. I have another X60 that is running off the preloaded image to compare the differences. Anyone have an idea on where I can look, or what to look for?

I have 8 machines to setup now, and maybe another 20 or so later on. We use a program called NetInstall to reimage machines, join them to the domain, and things like that. It makes setting up machines much faster, and assures that all of them are setup the same way.

Did you install Windows XP or Windows XP Tablet PC Edition?

Q1: Where can I purchase a copy of Windows XP Tablet PC Edition?

A1: Because Windows XP Tablet PC Edition has specific hardware requirements, it can only be obtained pre-installed on a Tablet PC computer. You cannot buy Windows XP Tablet PC Edition separately.

I installed XP Pro, using our volume license key that should work for both Pro and Tablet. I added the Tablet components that were on a second CD. The pen works on the machine, but no the shortcut menu so far.

for that matter, has anyone done a clean install of vista on a tabletpc? no luck here getting pen working...it says tablet components are installed (i.e. the writing area pullout tool), but no luck actually seeing the pointer move.
