That machine didn't come with bluetooth, so you probably don't have a bluetooth antenna. (It runs up the side of the LCD like the wireless antenna) Unless you add an antenna, no internal card will work. I have added bluetooth antennas to non-bluetooth machines. It is possible, but sort of a pain, and the first time you open the LCD and remove the hinge (where it runs) it is a pain.

How do I check whether my machine has the inbuild antenna?

1-Looking at the HMM.
2-Removing the keyboard and looking for a pigtail loose wire near the modem.

As what Carlos has stated, there are two ways. If you got your machine brand new or directly from Lenovo, both should work. If it was pre-owned, there is a slight chance that the actual components may differ from the HMM, in that case, the physical check should be better.

Check page 86 for a quick physical check and 179 to dig deeper:

If you check page 223 on the same link, item # 5, it appears that the only 2379 model listed is an R1x. That means your machine does not have the antenna. (Otherwise, it should have been listed as 2379-R5x where x is a variable which stands for any character or number and in your case is R5U)

My bad. I did not check your screen size. The difference is the one on page 223 is for the 15" and the one on page 228 is for the 14".

After checking the Lenovo support pages, it seems your machine has 14.1" SXGA+, therefore it should have the Bluetooth antenna.
