Problem with registering files.

Okay, here is a new one for everyone to figure out. I been getting these errors from all programs that says the file can not be registered. It happens with every program, here is what Word gives me:

This document can not be registered. It will not be possible to link other documents to this document."

Paint gives me a similar error and I cannot seem to save. What setting did I mess up to create this problem. Computer is running Windows XP Professional.

Check out article 198374 in the Microsoft knowledge base. Your exact error is replicated there and it suggests OLE file or Registry damage. It also relates to Office, but it might be of some assistance. ... JDH

Right now, I'm thinking something is wrong with windows itself since for some odd reason I am having issues with it. Right now I am performing a repair install of Windows to hopefully get it working. I think one of the services got corrupted.

Repair install fixed it. My computer is working like it should now.
