Hi.
I had the same need a few months ago (still not resolved, come to that).
There is a question I could not fin an answer to and that you might need to consider: Lenovo has a FRU for the HSDPA card, and a FRU for the EVDO card (logical). But they also have different FRUs for the HSDPA antenna and the EVDO antenna! Will the HSDPA card work with the EVDO antenna? No one (even a friend of mine who works as a technical sales at Lenovo France) could ever give me an answer.

If I'm not mistaken the MC8755(Vodafone) uses a different antenna as compared to the Cingular and Verizon adapters. Which means using Verizon antennas with the Cingular adapters should pose no problems and in theory, Vodafone adapters should also work but at a much lower sensitivity/efficiency as each antenna has been tuned for a specific carrier.

howdy,
as far as my researches have come up with infos, this is how it stands
mc5720 is us standard covering 800 and 1900 mhz, not suitable for europe.
mc8755 covers 2100 mhz, suitable for europe.
fru for this is: 42T0835
this has nothing whatsoever to do with the branding.
see: http://www.sierrawireless.com/product/e ... rison.aspx#
now quite honestly, i dont see any "branding" of the aerial according to the hwmanual and would not understand the reason in configuring different antennas for diffrent mhz!
so if you know of anybody not needing the mc8755, pls. let me know.
thanx

Hi Thormdac,
Not sure about the branding you mentioned.
But for the antenna, I think the main reason why different antennas are configured for diffrent bands is due to practicality. Don't know if you will agree but it is very difficult to design a very efficient antenna that will cover all the frequencies needed.
And I just noticed this now, you live in Europe and you got the 5720 card, that's why you need the 8755. Should have seen this earlier. Yes, your best bet would be to purchase an embedded card or a pcmcia card.
