Pulling/inserting plug: shut down first?

#1 Post by bevross » Tue Oct 05, 2004 8:03 pm

Anyone know if it's o.k. to insert/pullout the AC plug without shutting down power first? Only hint I get that it's o.k. to insert the plug without shutting down is the battery management program says to "Insert Now!" when battery power is real low. Likewise, say I'm on the plug and want to move to another seat (the couch, say): o.k. to pull the plug without shutdown? My inclination, though, is to "turn off" the computer first. Any thoughts?

It's fine to plug and unlpug the AC line while the unit is running.

I've plugged and unplugged many many times while the unit is running and have not yet experienced any problems.

The same is true with my Toshibas.

I don't believe any of the user guides from these manufacturers mention this.
