Error message when sending PMs (PIC)

#1 Post by gator » Fri May 04, 2007 11:10 am

Is there a limit on the size of a PM? I have been getting this message a lot of late when I try to send PMs:

Image
Now: T60 2613-EKU | T23 2647-9NU | 600X 2645-9FU | HP 100LX
Past: X31 2673-Y13 | T41 2374-3HU | T22 2647-AEU

I've been getting that too. Within about 30 mins ago. Apparently, the message still goes through. And not just with PMs, the same happens with posts.

And oh, cannot logon to this site for about 3 or so mins before this happened.

These errors crop up from time to time. I expect they will be fixed soon (if not already). I just posted and do not see any errors.

Tried posting messages up into the board the other day and same message appeared. But if you clicked back- and refresh your page, the message is sent.

i have seen these errors, too..

i think related to connectivity problems..

but maybe i'll look into the module in the error message..

though at my php programming skill level, this might be considered to be in the same league as handing a 2 year old child a loaded pistol just because he had demonstrated an ability to pick up a plastic toy.. :)

All it is really is the SMTP server timing out, could be things are rerouted occasionally due to traffic or down routers. It is just a connectivity issue not really a forum issue. The time the server expects to receive the packets is to long so it errors out.

This bug has been coming up alot lately and causing posters to post twice.
"I've come a long, long way," she said, "and I will go as far,
With the man who takes me from my horse, and leads me to a bar."
The man who took her off her steed, and stood her to a beer,
Were a bleary-eyed Surveyor and a DRUNKEN ENGINEER.

I think you're right. I've had the message about 4 times and each time I have also received a message that my e-mails couldn't be called up due to connection problems. To avoid the double posting I just click on "back" and when the connection is there again everything is AOK - post is posted 1 time.

I haven't had any problems with error messages when sending PMs, but today (July 18, 2007) sent a PM to another forum member and later did not find the message in my "sent" file. I re-sent the message, and once again it was sent without apparent problems - but afterwards was still not in my "sent" file. Another message I had sent several days ago landed correctly in the "sent" file and can still be accessed there.

I'm not sure what's going on and don't want to pester others by sending the same PM again and again, but unless the messages can be seen in the "sent" file after they're sent, I can't be sure they were even sent correctly.

Does anyone know what's going on?

[Later]
Well, I can answer my own question, but the answer seems a bit strange to me... there's an "in" box, a "sent" box and an "out" box and I have no idea what the difference between the latter two is, but the PMs I had sent were in the "out" box, not in the "sent" box. Are sent PMs only put in the "sent" box after the person to whom they are addressed reads them?
