The current available details for the upcoming (next week?) Santa Rosa Thinkpad lines indicate the existence of widescreen T and R series, both of them with the same form factor as the current Z series (14.1" widescreen).
Does this mean the Z series is cancelled? It does make good sense, to me at least, that Lenovo would experiment with widescreens in one series, and when it proves successful, put it into its standard lines.
The only thing I have not seen in the leaked specs is a titanium lid, but I think it looks out of place anyway.
Z series merged into T and R?
Yes you are corrent, the Z line has been discontinued as widescreens are available on the T and R series.
Most probably, no titanium lid. Why? Its so heavy so they cannot call them "Thin and Light" anymore.

Ah. Wasn't aware of a weight issue, but I just thought it's incongruous to have an all-black bottom component and a titanium top. And besides, from the MacBook Pro to Toshiba and Dell, there's no shortage of metal-colored notebooks out there anyway, from decent-looking (MBP) to horrible (Dell Inspiron).
Good to know Lenovo is sticking to the traditional design. I was a bit worried when 1) more viewers of their viral ad claimed to prefer titanium
2) there tends to be more multimedia choices in the Z series if you opt for titanium lid (you can get WUXGA+ or a camera with the black lid, but not both), at least on Lenovo's CTO site
I see that you own an R-series. How do you find it? The new one is supposedly only 0.2lbs heavier than the T-series, so I might take that (wouldn't want to risk first-generation Flash caching technology anyway)
