This is directed to people that used both 5k80 and 7k60 (I guess upgraded) HDDs from Hitachi.
What is you experience concerning noise, heat, and speed going from 5400rpm to 7200rpm? I know that going from 4200 to 7200 is really noticeable.

I didn't upgrade from 5400 but instead from 4200 to the 7200 rpm hard drive. The noise level is not too noticeable for what I do. Heat is about the same again depending on what I'm doing. As far as speed...This is probably the best single upgrade a laptop user can get. I have a T40 1.6 Pentium M with 1.6gb DDR. It still seemed a little slow till I installed the new hard drive. Now, this thing is as fast as my desktop pc which is a Dell P4 2.4
