Unknown Device

#1 Post by perkinqq » Mon May 07, 2007 11:20 am

I have an unknown device on my Intel(R) 82801GBM (ICH7-M) LPC Interface Controller - 27B9

Does anyone know what this is?

I've tried downloading the INF update utility, etc. from intel and I still can't get rid of the ? unknown device... any suggestions would help.

It has something to do with your chipset drivers..A goolge search brought up quite a few hits on this.

Please avoid double posting, you already posted this before in T60 section. Kyocera, your call to lock down one of these.

With the man who takes me from my horse, and leads me to a bar."

The thing is, I've used the installation utility software and it seems to not disappear.

What do you mean by manually installing the driver? I have not been able to find a specific driver for my chip set

I used the chipset detector and this is the chipset I have:

Mobile Intel(R) 945GM/GMS/940GML Express Chipsets or Intel(R) 945GT Express Chipset

I have looked on the intel site for drivers and even lenovo... I still cannot find the drivers to get rid of this thing...

Kyocera, I clicked your link to the specific chipset website and it seems that mine is not listed (945GM/GMS/940GML or 945GT)... Would you be able to suggest me to other related links?

Thank you for any help that you can provide and sorry for the double posting.

Ever heard of Google?
It took me all of 2 seconds to find this: http://www.intel.com/support/chipsets/sb/CS-020683.htm

Thanks Realblackstuff,

but... I've tried the chipset installation utility (infinst_autol.exe), and I still show an unknown device on the "LPC interface controller."

I did try googling that but I have found no specific driver for the LPC controller.

Thanks for the help though.

P.S. Could it just be a bad registry entry?

Hello,

I found the answer on some obscure blog, heh.

If anyone is interested:
