Docked dual display video issue

#1 Post by kpauley » Mon May 07, 2007 3:52 pm

I'm having a problem with my T60 video when docked. I'm running dual displays from the dock, 1 DVI and one VGA. About once per minute I get a screen flash, almost a subliminal flashing. Looks like it's a really low resolution, I'll see some blocked words flash on a white background.

This happens on the primary monitor that is plugged in via VGA. Drivers are current (I believe, ATI Radeon X1300 8.293.1.0 9/13/2006), and I've tried flopping the monitors (both are identical new NEC 2070 NX), problem stays with the VGA port.

Laptop is a 2007-WHC model.

Same flashing vga monitor problem

I have the same problem on my T60. 2 LCD's, one DVI and other VGA and when docked the VGA flashes, looks like resolution is changing.

Updated bios, and monitor "drivers".

I think you're seeing the widely discussed "Flicker" problem that IBM/Lenovo has yet to address.

I only know of two solutions:

1. After you boot, Press Fn+F4 to suspend your Thinkpad. Then, Press the Fn key by itself to wake it back up again. The flicker should be gone until you re-boot.

2. Downgrade to BIOS version 1.09, which is the only BIOS version I know of that fixes this problem. This may not be an option for you if you're running Vista.
Apathy is on the rise, but nobody seems to care.
