Thinkpad motherboards

#1 Post by newmark » Mon May 07, 2007 5:54 pm

I have a few questions regarding the Thinkpad insides:

1. Does anybody know who makes the Thinkpad motherboards?

2. Are the motherboards in the T60 models made by the same manufacturer as the ones in the R60? Or are they using, say, motherboards made by Asus in the T60 and Hannstar boards in the R60 because they're cheaper?

3. Are the motherboards in the T60 models made by the same manufacturer as the ones in the T4x models?

I'm asking these to get an idea about the inside changes in these models and their reliability. People tend to focus on the build materials or architectural stuff and I couldn't find anything about the actual electronic part.

Lenovo makes them with the coordination of chips and parts from various manufacturers like intel.
"I've come a long, long way," she said, "and I will go as far,
With the man who takes me from my horse, and leads me to a bar."
The man who took her off her steed, and stood her to a beer,
Were a bleary-eyed Surveyor and a DRUNKEN ENGINEER.
