t21 not powering up

#1 Post by spotter » Mon May 07, 2007 9:04 pm

So I asked a week or 2 ago about replacing the lcd latch, and I bought a set of latches on ebay and followed the manual and replaced them.

Then I put everything back where it came from (no extra pieces (<shew>), but the laptop now wont power up, yet it seems to be charging battery if plugged in (led lights up). Nothing happens at all when I press the power button.

So here I am cursing at myself, but hoping I did something stupid that is easily rectified.

any hope? what would be the first things to look at.

First thing to check would be to see if the keyboard has been properly re-seated onto the motherboard connector (press down around the "Y" key). If that appears to be okay, then is there NO activity when the power button is pushed? Look closely at the hard disk LED (far left). Does it flash for 0.1 second when power is applied? If so, then this is known as the "blink of death" (well documented problem with some T20-T22 systems).

I love the Y key.

THANK YOU.

And now off to give some charity in your honor.
