How do I turn the display back on after auto-turn-off?
My T60p is set to the "ThinkPad Default" power scheme, which turns off the display after 25 minutes (on AC power).
When it has turned the display off, I can't get it to turn it back on. I would think that pressing any key would do the trick, but it doesn't. Nor does pressing and holding the Fn key. Nor does Fn-F7.
What does work is closing the lid, waiting for the machine to go into standby, and opening the lid again. But that's a pain.
Any suggestions?

It's a known bug. I think the current BIOS fixes it. Either that or the current display driver. I have both on mine and it doesn't happen anymore.

In answer to an earlier question: I'm running Windows XP.
I think I'm running the latest BIOS -- at least the update program doesn't tell me there's a newer one available.
I don't really want to use the Fn-F4 option, because that puts the machine into standby mode. In the mode I'm trying to get out of, it's not in standby -- it has just turned off the monitor. So the question is how to turn the monitor back on.

Well, sort of. It turns the display back on but sets the resoltion to 960x600, thereby screwing up all the applications that are running at the time. I can hit Fn-spacebar again, but of course changing the resolution twice is no guarantee that the screen contents won't now be screwed up.DavidR wrote:Does Fn SpaceBar help?
So it's a useful workaround but not a solution.

Aha! -- The problem seems to depend on how Fn-F7 is set. I had it set to pop up a dialog box asking me how to set the display. If instead I set it to toggle between display-only, projector-only, and display+projector, then the Fn key does reactivate the display after auto-power-off.
As I rarely use this machine with a projector, I'll just leave it that way and hope I remember how to set it back if I need it

I have a T60p (8744-J2U) and encountered the same problem. When on battery power, the screen can go into power saving mode and never exit. The only workaround to wakeup the screen was to either Suspend the system or toggle through the screen/external display modes using FN+F7. This is all on Windows XP SP2.
I had the latest BIOS and all the latest drivers.
The hotfix from KB923232 seems to have solved the problem. The fix can be downloaded from:
http://thehotfixshare.net/download/inde ... 86-ENU.exe
In fact, all hotfixes are easily found on the site:
http://thehotfixshare.net/download/inde ... dows%20XP/
I hope this helps someone else...
