Easiest way to clean install vista on a X60?

I am receiving my X60 tomorrow. I ordered it with Vista Business and based on threads I've been reading here a clean install is a must.
I don’t like the idea of deleting partitions, etc, so I was wondering if it’s an easy way to install a clean Vista using the recovery partition, which it’s still pretty acceptable on resources, etc...

I know the best way is to create recovery disks, delete the hidden partition, etc but I am wondering if it’s some sweet spot in the middle between that and do not do anything at all....

Man we've been having really bad luck with the preload. I'm about to spend some time starting over by eliminating EVERYTHING I can from the preload on a restore.

I really desperately want to try XP Tablet.

Everyone on here told me to get Vista but I'm wondering if any of them had actually used it on the X60 Tablet. It seems like it might be cool on a desktop IF you could turn certain things off. Windows currently STOPS several programs from running during startup. I do not know how to make this go away. Windows asks me if I want to run the programs I just started (cancel or allow). I can't figure out how to turn that off.
I turned of Windows defender using services.msc, and it keeps trying to run it anyway, but fails, so now I have that message coming up everytime it starts.

The boot time is really long, but with the preload you could start it, then go make dinner for the family and come back after the dishes are done.

There is a new application within Rescue and Recovery that gives you a custom selection of software to be installed. It is called Base Software Selector. This will allow you to deselect programs you do not need, probably different from a clean install but will give you the drivers which could be the sweet spot you are looking for.

Yea, I've already done that, and now I am in the process of doing it again. I am only allowing 1 program to be installed, Easy Eject.

This doesn't come close to getting rid of the Cancel or Allow messages or Windows Defender. Also there is no way to make it look like XP. You can make it look like 2000, but not XP. I always used classic menus, etc, but I do like some of the visual properties of XP. In fact I like the way Vista look and feels in Aero, they just take up too many resources (apparently). I am certain in 3-4 years the hardware will be up to snuff for Vista. I'd say if you get a score of less than 5 or 6 you are in trouble.

I also can't figure out how to change the amount of video memory used. I read somewhere it was adjustable, but I can't find it anyway. I'd like to set it to 64megs, and maybe only up it if I was playing a game or something which is unlikely.

If anyone knows how to tame Vista please tell us. The internet searches I've come across didn't help a bit. I actually started getting lots of error messages from turning off the services he suggested.

Go to Control Panel, then User Accounts. There is an Option "Activate/disactivate user account's control function" (I am traslating it into English, but I'm sure you'll find it). This should help.

Yes, thank you. I did that last night, and it makes all the difference in the world. If I was setting up a PC for grandma, I'm sure Vista would either save her from lots of problems or cause her to NEVER EVER use it.
