Harddrive, FAN and Vista issue

Hi there,
does anybody have the same experience that the harddrive is getting hotter under WinVista then under WinXP?? bcs its kind a warm on the surface... and the fan is working more frequent with vista or am I dreaming???
T60 Large (14" 1400x1050,2gb,80gb,9cell bat, and advanced ultrabay battery)-->going to have a big x60 :D, Apple Powerbook G4, DesktopPC, Networkslave (dell optiplex as printserver) ->next upgrade: samsung mh80 120gb drive

If you've recently installed Vista then that's normal. Vista likes to shuffle files for sometime.

You mean Vista tries to somehow defragment the drive by itself?

You can say that. It indexes files.

Check to make sure that Disk Defrag is not scheduled and running. To do this, 1) click the Start Menu, 2) in the Search field, type "defrag", 3) the Disk Defrag window should be displayed, 4) check to make sure the "Run on a Schedule" checkbox is UNCHECKED.
