A22M has no power-on

#1 Post by oodobah » Thu Oct 07, 2004 3:40 pm

hi :D ,

i woke up this morning, my laptop did not. dead, nothing, only the battery light on the hinge is illuminated. i've read from another site, that
this is a common A22M problem. my type is 2628-P1U. i've heard some
success by replacing either: the cmos battery (CR2032) or the the voltage regulator module (ADP3410) or just reseating the cpu.

can anyone confirm this and: 1) how to access my system board without destroying parts? and 2) where a source of the ADP3410 can be found? ebay has the CR2032. i also heard from a local shop that a faulty lithium-ion main battery may prevent power-on...although this was on a different manufacturer. can anyone confirm this as another possible cause?

thanks much,
-Kent

Do a Search on "CMOS" and another on "reseat". There have been several threads about both topics which include numerous suggestions.

You can download the Hardware Maintenance Manual (HMM) for your model from the IBM website. That has detailed step-by-step information about how to disassemble and reassemble your ThinkPad.

BTW there's no need to buy the CMOS battery over eBay. The CR2032 is a standard battery that you can find at any Radio Shack. I've also seen them at dollar stores for, well, a dollar.

or If all fails you could sell you screen to this guy, get some cash and buy another A22m, (hehe just kidding)
