Annoying backspace key

#1 Post by J Shed » Fri May 11, 2007 3:50 pm

I recently got a 14.1" T60. C2D 2.0, gig of ram, 128meg vid card, 9cell, SXGA monitor (I think that's the right one, the high end one) etc etc. I LOVE this thing... with one annoyance.

The backspace key sucks. I have to press it firmly right in the middle for it to register... is there a fix for this?

I searched, but came up blank. Maybe I suck at the search. :?

Complaint to Lenovo.

But in case if you're looking for a fix then all you can do is to open up the key and see if you can do anything to fix the problem you're experiencing. (I don't recommend this at all)

I'm not sure it warrents a complaint. The main culprit is most likely my typing style. I hit the key right on the edge, on most keyboards that's enough, but not on this one.

I wasn't sure if this was an issue other people noticed as well, or if it's just mine.

It's probably a bad keyboard. Unlike most other brands, ThinkPad's keys and mouse buttons can be pressed on the sides and edges and still register.

I had a similar issue with a Thinkpad T43p with the enter key. Got the keyboard replaced the next day on warranty.

Lenovo will honor the warranty if the key is malfunctioning. However if it's not the key and just your way of pressing them, on the edges then I am unable to comment further on that.

Just get someone else around you to try typing on it and test the backspace key, if you really think the culprit may be your typing style.

It probably is a key problem, though. I can press mine with my fingernail on the very end and it still registers.
